Child Friendly vegetables

Rare is the parent who says, "Oh, my kids love vegetables Can not get enough of it." Rather, most of us are struggling to get our children to eat more vegetables.

Ironically, to solve the problem, a simple trick - or at least help make vegetables for children. It is obvious, but I have to say: When the vegetables taste good children, they eat them.

Not reduce the right taste of vegetables for children the nutritional value

It is a simple concept. As plants but many of us seem somehow lose all their nutritional value when you add a little butter, salt or sugar to make it. Of course, this is ridiculous. Of course, we can add some calories or a few milligrams of sodium. But we can not eliminate all the vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants.

In any case, improving the taste of vegetables with fat, salt and sugar makes it acceptable, in turn, makes us want to eat more! Executives know that all foods should be properly seasoned. This means that the addition of salt and pepper sometime during the firing process, and then just before the tasting and adding more if necessary can be used. The same goes with sugar and spices. I like Maldon sea salt for its incredible flavor, and because of its unique shape and texture, a little goes a long way.

As for fats (butter, olive oil, lard, fat), and the fat is its own specific and wonderful flavor development. No need to add much to his love of good food. And despite the bad reputation of the roast was, if they do not cook properly (at the right temperature, a good fat, such as grazing pure lard), really enjoy the food tastes better with less calories and nutrition of all good (see my video on roasted Brussels sprouts.)

These are some of my favorite ways to taste vegetables for picky eaters:

  • Add the butter.

Butter is rich and sweet and improves the taste of foods, but is particularly effective for the vegetables taste good. You do not use a ton of butter, enough to wrap the green beans or broccoli in a hot layer of gluttony.

My green beans with brown butter recipe is a great example of the use of butter to flavor vegetables picky.

  • Roast.
  • Roasting brings the natural sugars in fruit and caramelized. My roasted chickpeas, kale recipe fried crispy and my green beans are great ways to make vegetables taste children.

  • Add the sugar. Relax. I'm not talking about the cups sugar to talk add your cauliflower. A drizzle of maple syrup or a teaspoon of honey can do magic on vegetables.

To bring my sweet potatoes and carrots puree with a touch of honey and brown sugar on the natural sweetness in the vegetables. And my broccoli raisin salad contains sugar, orange juice and raisins, a sweet sometimes bitter to bring vegetables.

  • Add Bacon. Added slices of bacon Par, a vegetable dish four plant can turn a boring, where picky begging for the second. My Brussels sprouts with bacon is an excellent example of this. This is my slow cooker green beans, potatoes.

A warning: If you add the bacon in a recipe, the salt content is increased. Try to see vegetables after adding bacon if you need to add more spice.

  • Fry.

Nothing like roasting to enhance the flavor of food. Be prepared or processed instead of fried for buying food, they can healthy fried in hydrogenated or some other preservatives or additives oils, I recommend roasting at home. Use raised a good fat like pure (non-hydrogenated) lard from pigs on pasture.

Two great recipes to try: fried Brussels sprouts and crispy sweet potato fries.
