Hot Dog Chili Recipe

This recipe for hot dog chili makes a big busy weekday dinner fast and easy. The directions are here to make this chili in the kitchen, but it can also be in the slow cooker. Just dump everything peppers and cook for 4-6 hours.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Total time: 25 minutes

Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 c. Olive oil
  • Hot August nitrate free hot dogs lean meat or chicken or turkey dogs
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 14 oz cans mild chili beans (undrained)
  • 1/2 cup of tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup aroma
  • 4 ounces chopped green chilies (optional)
  • 1c. Chili powder
  • Kosher salt and pepper to taste
  • Onion and grated cheddar cheese for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Meanwhile, cut the sausage into 1/2-inch pieces.

  2. Add the sausage and onion in oil. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sausages are browned, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients. Heat to medium-low. Chili cook 5-10 minutes, until flavors are mixed. Taste and adjust seasoning.

  4. Serve hot, garnished with chopped onion and grated cheddar cheese.
