Easy Sugar Cookies

Easy sugar cookie recipe

Every time my kids want to make sugar cookies, I go this recipe because they fall sugar cookies, so no need to mess with rolling dough. The best part of this recipe (besides the fact that it is so easy), is that it's nice, sweet, tender sugar cookies and the kids can even decorate with glitter or even ice cream.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 12 minutes

Total time: 22 minutes

Yield: 36 cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1c. Baking soda
  • 1c. kosher salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1c. Vanilla extract
  • colorful sprinkles

Preparation:

  1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

  2. Cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Beat the eggs and vanilla.

  3. At low speed, beat mix in flour mixture until all the flour is incorporated. Do not mix or cookies will be tough.

  4. Cooling the dough for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1 to 2 hours.

  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or a Silpat mat.

  6. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly with your fingers. Sprinkle with sprinkles if desired.

  7. Bake 8-12 minutes, until lightly browned on the bottom.
