Grilled cheese and tomato

Sandwich with grilled cheese

Cheese and tomato sandwich is a classic combination - and for good reason. Plump, juicy tomatoes are the perfect complement for cheese in this comforting sticky cheese sandwich recipe.

I had the best results with grilled cheese sandwiches George Foreman grill. If you have one, use it. Otherwise you can not grilled cheese sandwich recipe in a heavy pan.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Total time: 10 minutes

Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices sourdough bread, Italian or French bread
  • 1c. Butter
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese or American
  • 1 plum tomato, chopped

Preparation:

  1. Preheat (compare prices), a George Foreman grill or heavy (like cast iron) skillet over medium heat.

  2. If you use a George Foreman grill, spray with non-stick spray. If using a pan melt one tablespoon of butter in the pan.

  3. Spread 3/4 c. Butter one side of each slice of bread.

  4. Show slices of cheese on two slices of bread, butter side down.

  5. Place the tomato slices on top.

  6. Top with remaining slices of bread, butter side out.

  7. About sandwiches George Foreman grill or in a pan. Golden brown bake 2-4 minutes to George Foreman. If you have a pan, cook, then turn 1-3 minutes on the first side and cook for 1-3 minutes gold.
Serve the grilled cheese sandwiches and hot tomato.
